Knights

Are always holding the lantern in the dark.
We’ve had many conversations in the winter wind,
We hold hands behind the forest trees.
Listen to them speak of the problems of the heart.
It’s a secret, a scar left by a rook.
Queens, they mend the grief the knights gained from the start.
Capture their tears in a teal glass jar.
Occasionally we take a break to count the stars.
Gentleness, it soothes the pain inside.
A silent voice lets them know they’re never alone in the dark.
Knights
Struggles they obtain,
Mystery hides their deepest thoughts.
Unfriendly is the posture when the sword comes out.
Slash away the dragons, it’s never the best part.
Defend the Queen,
It’s an honor, they freeze in the cold winter nights.
A badge of courage they wear with every tear they disregard.
It’s the least a Queen can do, it’s easy to mend their lonely hearts.
A knight fights where others may disagree.
